Mar 22nd, 2008 5:39 pmHi, I'm about to buy an FTA receiver. I am thinking of nfusion or neosat - due automatic network updating. Nfusion is for $195 neosat iPRO 2000 Plus for $230 Would like to get something with solid PVR and the network connection. Any suggestion? Thank you.Go with nFusion.
Solid support and the guys behind know what they're doing. Neosat is backed by kids who cobble together fixes that sometimes just isn't reliable. Even now you won't get full channels on their boxes.
Just 'some' and you have to work hard to keep up with the updates or the Neosat falls behind. Mar 23rd, 2008 5:15 pmI had the same question, did some reading on a fta site (can't remember which one) and ended up getting the neosat ipro 2000 because according to people there it is better than the nfusion. People there said the nfusion is like the older neosat model.I'm not sure though but it is what I read.So how are you enjoying your Neosat? I guess you had to work around the times it's been down. As you may have known, having better technical specs doesn't guarantee you the most uptime. In the future make sure you get opinions from different sites. Always question whether the site itself is being pushed to sway members to go with one brand or another.
You need objective opinions and not the fodder that one sees on forums that are financially supported by an fta manufacturer. Mar 23rd, 2008 5:53 pmSo how are you enjoying your Neosat? It is my first satellite setup so I have to do everything from the start. I'll let you know how it goes when everything is up and running.

Just 'some' and you have to work hard to keep up with the updates or the Neosat falls behind. WTF are you talking about? Neosat can run cardless AND IKS. The only recent hick ups I've seen lately was a couple of weeks ago when they weren't able to get a hybdrid cardless/IKS file to work properly. Nfusion doesn't even do cardless fixes so if there's ever anything wrong with your internet connection then you have nothing to fall back on. Having tested both units I can say the neosat has the better PVR function, the better GUI, the better remote, looks better, more power, and overall more potential.
Nfusion has been a little more stable but in the last 2 months or so I've had only 2 half days of downtime with my neosat when IKS was down. Mar 30th, 2008 3:38 amWTF are you talking about? Neosat can run cardless AND IKS.Son, the reason they are relying on both methods is because their IKS system isn't up to par and they know it. When your cardless bin only works for one provider and for a certain # of channels and you need IKS for another provider, this is what you called a hobbled together system. Nfusion doesn't need to go cardless right now and why should they? Look at all the other FTA receivers that are cardless right now. They are going down at every ECM.
Then it takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days for fix to be released and you'll have a bunch of frustrated coders and viewers. Add in the fact that there are on average 3-5 ECM's a month and you see how tiring it is to reprogram your FTA box for cardless. Nfusion's IKS has been solid and their fixes have been prompt and quick. If they had a bulletproof cardless bin, you can bet they would release it but at the moment the providers have the upper hand. Nfusion doesn't even do cardless fixes so if there's ever anything wrong with your internet connection then you have nothing to fall back on.Prop up an antenna and fall back on that. At least I'll have all my locals and off air HDTV channels.
I've never had problems with my internet going down and it's been a pleasure to go Nfusion. Neosat can't even provide a decent runtime on their cardless let alone their 'hybrid' setup. Oh yeah, I see everyone is getting some Freezing on the latest Neosat fix. So no full channels and freezing. Hmm not a good combo.
Nfusion has been a little more stable but in the last 2 months or so I've had only 2 half days of downtime with my neosat when IKS was down.A little stable? It's been incredibly reliable and stable. Be honest now. The last ECM, Nfusion was the only one that was up.
I've been reading the Neosat forums and you can't possibly admit that you've ' only' been down for 2 half days. Neosat group can't even censor the negative posts fast enough to keep the truth from leaking out. Have fun with your 'iPro2k'! Their cardless fix opened up all the channels, it was the IKS that didn't cover everything. I know up until near christmas, their IKS didn't even work properly.
I ran file 272 for nearly 2 months with no reason to switch until 2 weeks ago when they took IKS down. I can understand you pushing the reliability of the nfusion over the neosat but the way you exaggerating things it almost looks like you work for nfusion. That is nothing new. Their cardless bins goes down as often as their IKS system.
The coders behind their system aren't very good in maintaining their setup. Even when they have both running, you don't get all the channels! You can read the messages at their support forum if you want to see this for yourself. I rarely visit their forum because I find it inferior to my usual sites but I don't need to read what others are saying because I've been watching satellite almost uninterrupted since January with the Neosat. Prop up an antenna and fall back on that. At least I'll have all my locals and off air HDTV channels. I've never had problems with my internet going down and it's been a pleasure to go Nfusion.

So no full channels and freezing. Hmm not a good combo. That last fix was a temp fix until they get that hybrid system going so I didn't expect it to be perfect. I've had internet go down on a few occasions (even something as stupid as a contractor piercing the telephone wire when they redid the sidewalks at my parents and a salesman doing the same thing when he stuck a sign on my neighbours lawn). And why do you expect them to provide a decent run time on their cardless when it's bound to go down along with every other receiver?
At least that option is there for the 3 people who own a PRO model without IKS adapter. Yep I will admit their hardware specs are nice but what good is the hardware without the vital software to keep it running? A little stable? It's been incredibly reliable and stable. Be honest now. The last ECM, Nfusion was the only one that was up. I've been reading the Neosat forums and you can't possibly admit that you've ' only' been down for 2 half days.

I guess what I did say was a little misleading actually, I meant to say the last 2 months before this were nearly perfect. Starting mid-March the coder have been screwing around and experimenting a bit and that has been hurting the stability of the unit. Unlike you I actually have recommended Nfusion to certain people, but if I know the person is a little more tech savvy, I will always recommend the Neosat to them because overall it's a nicer unit and has more potential! Maybe it was just a coincidence that Nfusion has dropped $20 in value and the ipro has gone up $30 as of last month.
